Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages.
PLO 6. To apply knowledge of expressive, emotional and logical linguistic means, and speech techniques in order to achieve planned pragmatic results and establish successful communication.
PLO 10. To collect and pecializat linguistic, literary and folklore facts, to interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres.
PLO 14. To create, analyse and edit texts of different styles and genres.
PLO 15. To choose the best research approaches and methods for the analysis of specific linguistic or literary material.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of practical and theoretical courses of the French language, taught during two semesters of study, and the ability to do lexical-grammatical analysis of French texts.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the actual lexical-semantic, stylistic, grammatical, and pragmatic problems of French academic discourse; to deepen students' knowledge based on the study of textual material that reflects scientific, popular science, academic topics in various genres; to highlight the peculiarities of using argumentation strategies in academic discourse.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical lessons are aimed to the development of phonetic, lexical and grammatical skills of the students of Arabic Studies in French in the process of active work in the classroom. Control of students’ mastering lexical and grammatical material in French academic discourse is carried out via oral communication and written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, and modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written assignments, modular test papers, and final test paper (max. 100 points, min. 60 points). The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
