Within the compulsory component of the program, the graduate may be awarded the professional qualification Linguist. Within the elective component of the program, the graduate may be awarded the professional qualification Translator (Ukrainian–Swedish languages). The requirements and regulations for obtaining professional qualifications are specified in the description of the educational program.

PLO 1. Evaluate one’s own academic and research-professional activity; develop and implement an effective strategy for self-development and professional self-improvement. PLO 2. Demonstrate proficient command of the state and foreign languages for written and oral communication, particularly in professional and academic contexts; present research results in the state and foreign languages. PLO 3. Apply modern methods and technologies, including information technologies, to effectively carry out professional activities and ensure the quality of research in a specific field of philology. PLO 4. Evaluate and critically analyze socially, personally, and professionally significant problems and propose solutions in complex and unpredictable conditions, requiring the application of new approaches and forecasting. PLO 5. Identify optimal ways of effective interaction within a professional team and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional, and logical language means, as well as speech techniques, to achieve the intended pragmatic outcome and ensure successful communication. PLO 7. Analyze, compare, and classify different trends and schools in linguistics. PLO 8. Evaluate historical achievements and contemporary developments in literary studies. PLO 9. Characterize the theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, key notions, etc.) and applied aspects of Swedish philology. PLO 10. Collect and systematize linguistic, literary, and folklore data; interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres of the Swedish language. Full-time form

Graduates’ assessment is conducted in the form of: 1) a public and open defense of the Master’s qualification thesis; 2) taking a comprehensive final examination in Swedish philology and translation; 3) taking a final examination in English. The final assessment of learning outcomes is carried out using a unified 100-point scale. The following correspondence with the five-point grading system is applied: Excellent – 90–100% Good – 75–89% Satisfactory – 60–74% Fail – 0–59% Passed – 60–100% Fail – 0–59% The assessment of learning outcomes is specified in the course syllabi. The main principles of the assessment policy are regulated by the Regulations on the Organization of the Educational Process at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. To ensure academic integrity, participants in the educational process are guided by the provisions of the Code of Ethics of the University Community.

The study involves the mandatory completion of research internship.

Master of Philology (translation included) can work in academic institutions, publishing houses, educational establishments; in mass-media; in PR-agencies; in various foundations, unions, humanitarian organisations, museums, art and cultural centres, etc.; in various sectors that need translation services and the creation, analysis, evaluation of texts, and provision of services of linguistic and translation expertise.

Graduates have the right to continue their studies at the third level of higher education and obtain additional qualifications in the postgraduate education system.
