Bachelor's degree in 035 Philology and Bachelor's degree in other specialities after passing a qualification entrance exam

Provided that the cumulative GPA is not lower than 75, the qualification “Linguist” is awarded upon successful completion of all compulsory courses, the final English exam, the Master’s thesis defense, and research practice (6 ECTS). Within Elective Block 2 “Language Contacts and Translation…”, the qualification “Translator (Ukrainian–Italian)” may be awarded upon completion of the block’s courses, passing the exam, and translation practice (6 ECTS).

PLO1. Demonstrate awareness of contemporary trends and schools in linguistics; analyze and compare their achievements. PLO2. Select appropriate research approaches and methods for multi-aspect analysis of linguistic, speech, and literary material, considering both traditional and innovative approaches. PLO3. Conduct professional analysis of linguistic, speech, and literary material; interpret and structure it; provide reasoned explanations of specific linguistic phenomena. PLO4. Produce, edit, translate, and professionally interpret texts of various styles and genres. PLO5. Apply specialized conceptual knowledge in linguistics to solve complex problems requiring the integration and updating of knowledge from related disciplines. PLO6. Use information technologies and linguistic online resources, including generative artificial intelligence, in professional activity. PLO7. Plan, organize, conduct, and present (in Ukrainian, Italian, and English) research and innovative developments in linguistics. PLO8. Demonstrate skills in managing complex activities and decision-making while adhering to the principles of integrity and anti-corruption. PLO9. Demonstrate proficiency in the state and foreign languages for written and oral communication, including professional and academic contexts; present research findings in these languages. PLO10. Identify optimal strategies for effective interaction within professional teams and with representatives of other professional groups at different levels. PLO11. Evaluate and critically analyze socially, personally, and professionally significant issues, and propose solutions in complex and unpredictable conditions requiring new approaches and forecasting. Full-time form

Examinations (written, oral, mixed form, pass-fail), grading tests, presentations, abstracts, reports, certification (final) examination, defence of internship report, defence of qualification (master’s) paper. Scale of grades (examination): 90-100 – excellent; 75-89 – good; 60-74 – satisfactory; 35-59 - unsatisfactory. Scale of grades (pass-fail examination): 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed. Research Practice (industrial placement) (CB 11, 6 ECTS) involves participation in research projects and scholarly publication. Teaching Assistant Practice (industrial placement) (EB 1.6, 6 ECTS) involves delivering lectures and practical classes in accordance with course syllabi and developing teaching materials. Translation Practice (Italian) (industrial placement) (EB 2.6, 6 ECTS) involves oral and/or written translation in accordance with the needs of the placement institution. Placements are carried out at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Italian Studies Center of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology, as well as in publishing houses, media, translation agencies, and international companies.

Graduates work in the scientific and educational fields; in teaching, research and administrative positions in higher education institutions; in print and electronic media, travel agencies, journalism, PR, humanitarian foundations and unions; they are engaged in translation and research activities, and are owners or employees of private translation and foreign language learning centres.

Possibility of postgraduate studies under the third cycle FQ-EHEA, EQF-LLL level 8 and HPK level 8 programmes and acquisition of additional qualifications in the postgraduate education system.
