Comprehensive Subject Area Examination

Bachelor’s or Specialist Degree Programme

Graduates who have successfully defended their qualifying project and passed a comprehensive examination are issued a standard form document which certifies they have been conferred the educational qualification: the degree of Master of Journalism.

Program Learning Outcomes (determined by the Standard) PLO-1. To analyze and summarize research findings, draw conclusions, collect, verify, analyze, and interpret data in the sphere of social communications. PLO-2. To plan social communication research commissioned by specialized institutions, programme efficiency of new niche media. PLO-3. To write a review of an innovative project, determine the most effective areas of its application. PLO-4. To use foreign languages to promote and enhance personal research or innovation work. PLO-5. To draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the research conducted in the field of social communications. PLO-6. To schedule the time required to conduct research or develop an innovative project in the field of journalism. PLO-7. To identify problem areas in the activities of modern media organizations. PLO-8. To demonstrate the ability to find contractors for research or development of innovative media projects. PLO-9. To apply specialized conceptual expertise in social communications when planning professional activities in different media organizations. PLO-10. To assess professional problem areas applying knowledge from a variety of subject areas. PLO-11. To search for the knowledge necessary to plan work. PLO-12. To conduct audience surveys within the planned research. PLO-13. To write reports on the results of the research and/or the implementation of innovative projects. PLO-14. To draw conclusions about the incompleteness of the research and the application of new approaches. PLO-15. To write a report on the work of the media team outlining proposals for improving professional activities. PLO-16. To do a self-analysis through writing a report on their activities.

Full-time form

Oral answers, reports (with written component), creative tasks, projects, presentation materials, analytics, written examinations (with 60 points from class assignments and 40 points from an examination), tests, differentiated tests with the point distribution of 80 points from class assignments and 20 points from final testing, passing a comprehensive examination in journalism and defending an innovative project.

National Credit Mobility - standard national application. International Credit Mobility - on the general basis.

Professional qualification internship - 2nd semester, January-March, 7 weeks. Pre-diploma internship - 3rd semester, April-June, 7 weeks.

Jobs in companies, associations, and media (including English-language) as editors-in-chief, heads of departments, creative directors, journalists, editors (professional specialization), advertisers, heads of press service, public relations specialists, project managers, etc.

А master student can undertake further study at a more advanced level to upgrade skills.
