Graduates who have successfully defended their qualifying project and passed a comprehensive examination are issued a standard form document which certifies they have been conferred the educational qualification: the degree of Master of Journalism.
To be awarded the professional qualification, a student must receive at least 75 points from the courses CC2, CC3, CC4, CC5, CC6, CC7, CC8, CC12 and defend a scientific qualifying paper or qualifying innovative project.
Programme learning outcomes
PLO-1. To analyse and summarize research findings, draw conclusions on the media activity patterns taking into account the specifics of creating, disseminating and perceiving an information product on social, human rights and environmental issues.
PLO-2. To plan social communication research commissioned by specialized institutions that disseminate information products to the Ukrainian general public or local audiences on social, human rights and environmental issues.
PLO-3. To write a review of a research article and/or awareness-raising innovative project on social, human rights and environmental issues.
PLO-4. To use foreign languages to promote and enhance their research and/or innovation work.
PLO-5. To develop a ‘roadmap’ for solving the identified problem.
PLO-6. To schedule the time required to conduct research or develop an innovative project based on the dynamic nature of the information environment.
PLO-7. To identify problem areas in the activities of modern media organizations communicating social, human rights and environmental issues, taking into account their mission in awareness-raising processes.
PLO-8. To demonstrate the ability to find contractors for research or development of innovative media projects on social, human rights and environmental issues.
PLO-9. To apply specialized conceptual expertise in social communications when planning research or developing an innovative project that promotes a positive public image on social, human rights and environmental issues.
PLO-10. To assess professional problem areas applying knowledge from a variety of subject areas, including social development, human rights and ecological safety.
PLO-11. To search for the knowledge necessary to plan scientific work in the field of communications.
PLO-12. To conduct audience surveys within the planned scientific research, taking into account the specifics of dissemination and perception of information on social, human rights and environmental issues.
PLO-13. To write a research article on the effectiveness of the impact of information on social, human rights and environmental issues.
PLO-14. To draw conclusions about the incompleteness of the research and the application of new approaches to programme product monitoring on social, human rights and environmental issues.
PLO-15. To write a report on the work of the media team outlining proposals for improving professional activities, taking into account the use of multimedia platforms as a priority way of producing and disseminating social, human rights and environmental awareness products.
PLO-16. To do a self-analysis through writing a report on their research and/or implementation activities on the effectiveness of media institutions that produce and disseminate information on social, human rights and environmental issues.
