Defense of the master's thesis. Passing the final exam in Polish language and literature. Passing the final exam in Ukrainian language and literature. With a special decision of the examination commission the professional qualification may be awarded 1) 2310.2 "Teacher of the higher educational institution (Polish language and literature)", 2) 2444.2 "Translator from Polish", 3) 2444.1 "Philologist-researcher" under the conditions specified in the description.

PLO2. Demonstrate an appropriate level of proficiency in state and foreign (Polish, English) languages for the implementation of written and oral communication, in particular, in situations of professional and scientific communication; present the results of their research in state and foreign (Polish, English) languages. PLO3. Apply modern methods and technologies, including information technologies, for the successful and effective implementation of professional activities and ensure the quality of research in the field of Polish and Ukrainian studies. PLO6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional, logical means of foreign (Polish, English) language and speech techniques to achieve the planned pragmatic result and the organization of successful communication. PLO7. Analyze, compare and classify different areas and schools in Polish and Ukrainian linguistics and literature. PLO11. To carry out scientific analysis of Polish and Ukrainian linguistic and literary material, to interpret and structure it using classical and modern methodological principles, to formulate generalizations on the basis of independently processed data. PLO14. Create, analyze and edit texts of different styles and genres in Polish and Ukrainian. PLO19. Conduct classes, provide advice to students in disciplines specializing in “Slavic languages and literatures (translation included), the first language – Polish”, as well as provide individual student support (mentoring) during study, using modern innovative methods and technologies for higher education. PLO22. Carry out Polish-Ukrainian, Ukrainian-Polish translation of texts and oral expressions of different styles and genres.

Full-time form

Assessment of students' academic achievements is carried out on 4-point (“excellent”, “good”, “satisfactory”, “unsatisfactory”) and verbal (“pass/fail”) systems. Types of control: current, thematic, periodic, final, self-control. Forms of control: oral and written examination, computer testing, defense of individual works, tests, differentiated tests, written exams, final exams, defense of master's thesis, etc.

Assistant practice is mandatory. Its takes place on the basis of the Department of Polish Studies of the Institute of Philology of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Within the chosen disciplines, additional practice is offered (part-time), depending on the unit – translation or research, which takes place on the basis of the International School of Ukrainian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine or the Center for European Studies of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Employment in research institutes of the humanities sector, higher education institutions, administrative institutions, companies, small enterprises (philologist, researcher, teacher, translator, editor, columnist, administrative worker with knowledge of Polish and Western European (English) language).
